“Robyn Hitchcock’s ‘1974’/New Year’s Day”
Written and Drawn by JZT
I’ve been really enjoying making these comics. I think I’ve found a way to do a type of thing I’ve wanted to do for a long time, but didn’t quite know how to do.
I apologize if the drawing is a little crude at times. As a kid I was really serious about art, but got distracted with theatre once high school started, and a bunch of other shit since; this is the most drawing I’ve done in years, so I’m sort of playing catch up.
At first, I figured these would be like Harvey Pekar’s original comics (as in the ones who drew then gave to Robert Crumb. Hey, you should watch the movie American Splendor! It’s terif.) But as I keep doing them, I’m starting to hope they’ll be at least as good as Jeffrey Brown’s drawing (http://www.jeffreybrowncomics.com/)
Will that come off as a burn? I mean no burn to Mr. Brown’s work. I don’t think I’d be doing this if I hadn’t read his book Little Things.
